PSN is back down after orders from Japanese government

After nearly an entire weekend of active PlayStation Network service, PSN is once again down for maintenance due to a rejection from the Japanese government. According to a Dow Jones report, an official from the Ministry of Economy's Media and Content Industry department has confirmed that the Japanese government has not given full approval for Sony to relaunch the PSN and its associated services.

“As of May 13, Sony was incomplete in exercising measures that they said they will do on the May 1 press conference” said Director Kazushige Nobutani. The Japanese government was not specific in naming what these terms were but stated that it wanted clearer terms on what Sony was doing to protect its users from future attacks and credit card theft.

"There were similar cases in the past that were caused by other firms, and we are asking Sony whether their measures are good enough when compared to countermeasures taken in the past,” Nobutani said.
