Movie will be a joint production between Sony Pictures and Ubisoft Motion Pictures

According to a report from Variety, a big screen version of the Assassin's Creed series is in discussion between Ubisoft and Sony Pictures.

Assassin's Creed

The development of this film would involve a close relationship between Sony Pictures and the newly formed Ubisoft Motion Pictures to ensure the quality and content is consistent with the game and the movie is produced with the highest level of care.

The Assassin's Creed franchise is one of Ubisoft's most successful and acclaimed franchises. Creed has been heralded as a franchise able to “transcend mediums” and reach beyond the realm of video games. Hopefully this translates into quality pieces of film entertainment.

I wonder if it's going to follow the story or be something on the side. Three (the fourth upcoming) games is hard to put in a two hour film. If it does follow, I hope it's more on Ezio than Altiar. Altiar's cool, but by now it's obvious the focus is more on Ezio. The Italian Renaissance is a bit more interesting to me anyway.
