Valve Announces New Counter-Strike title

Hot off the heels of persistent Internet rumors, Valve Software has officially announced the next installment in its popular Counter-Strike franchise with the announcement of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

CS:GO will release on PC, Mac, Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network in early 2012. The game will feature all new weapons, maps, characters, leaderboards, matchmaking, and game modes. CS:GO will also feature updated versions of classic CS content, such as maps and weapons.

The game is co-developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. More news along with glimpses of game play will surely be available shortly as CS:GO will be playable at the upcoming PAX Prime and Eurogamer Expo.
