Get into the third dimension... of horror

One of Capcom’s biggest titles this year -- and one of the Nintendo 3DS’s biggest exclusives -- is the latest entry into the Resident Evil series: Resident Evil Revelations. I got to check out this survival horror title, and I have to say, I left very impressed.

Resident Evil Revelations

The demo starts out in a mansion very similar to the original Resident Evil. You play as Jill Valentine, trying to escape and reunite with your team. The game plays from the third person, just like Resident Evil 4 and 5. You use the touch screen to equip weapons and navigate through your inventory. The rest of the buttons are laid out perfectly -- they should be very comfortable for RE vets and new players alike.

Graphically, RE Revelations looks to be one of the 3DS’s top-notch games. The 3-D effects were the clearest I’ve seen yet. Jill herself, parts of the mansion, and the enemies I encountered, all had great detail to them.

Overall, this one is shaping up to be a worthy entry in the Resident Evil franchise, and it's the best portable outing to date. If you’re still on the fence about getting a 3DS, like I am, then this game will make you take one step closer to getting one very soon.
